An anthology of flash fiction and conversations on craft with South Asian writers

This is a unique collection of flash fiction, writing prompts, and interviews by and about talented writers of South Asian heritage.

The stories range from math problems to the moon, from food to families, and everything that makes people want to share part of themselves.

This anthology, funded by the RSL Literature Matters Awards,  is inspired by the hope that more burgeoning writers realise that their words are important.

“A brilliant initiative that has published conversations about craft alongside flash fiction by South Asian writers.”

Alycia Pirmohamed, poet and judge of Literature Matters, RSL

“I love how this anthology of flash fiction, focusing on stories by writers of South Asian heritage, is structured. There is a selection of flash fiction from 24 brilliant writers, interviews and writing prompts. What a wonderful resource for readers and writers!”

Jude Higgins, author and director of Flash Fiction Festival

“The stories tug at every strand of the South Asian experience, weaving the region’s enormous scope in vivid colours. Flash Fusion is a monumental feat – mandatory reading for all.”

Ankit Raj Ojha, author of Pinpricks: poems

“Heart-stopping, ethereal and rooted in the cycles of life and death, this joyous anthology makes an important contribution to fiction that challenges literary pre-conceptions and cultural borders. That it does so with emotional impact and writerly wisdom is a testament to a team of superb editors and practitioners. Readers will not be disappointed.”

Cathy Galvin, poet, journalist and founder of The Word Factory

“A must read for so many reasons. Flash Fusion is a collection of consistently stellar flash narratives, each a good example of the form. As a pedagogical text, Flash Fusion offers valuable discussions of culture, under-represented points of view, and the art of flash. Veterans of the form share these pages with new, exciting voices. What a solid, necessary addition to the canon of flash anthologies.”

Christopher Allen, author and Chief Editor of SmokeLong Quarterly
